How did Brendan Schaub create an entertainment business? Can you talk about how things came together and lead to the ventures/lifestyle you have today?
Brendan Schaub
“Creating an entertainment business is hard and I’ve had a lot of ups and downs along the way but it’s all about making a positive environment for not only your audience but also the people you work with and the guests you invite to be a part of your shows. Thiccc Boy, The Fighter and The Kid and The Golden Hour each have different audiences but at the core the goal is the same: creating a fun space for listeners/viewers that they’ll want to come back to.”

Can you share a bit about your success in comedy? Similarly, do you mind sharing some favorite types of jokes and/or perhaps stories/experiences with good/bad jokes?
Brendan Schaub
“For me authenticity in a joke is key. Every joke I tell is something I truly think is funny or else I’m just on stage acting. Whether it is a personal story or an observation of mine you know I’m going to be talking about something that is hilarious to me personally. Of course, writing a bit is just one part of the game, practicing new bits live is the best way to know what’s working and what needs to be dialed in. Luckily for me I live in Los Angeles, and I can do multiple sets in a night. I can tell a joke at 8:30pm at the Hollywood Improv and see how the audience responds. If I feel like I need to change anything up I can try a new version of the bit at 10:00pm at The Comedy Store. It will always be one of the best cities for comedy.”

Do you have any quintessential personal stories/tips/advice for young entrepreneurs/podcasters? Perhaps some key things to keep in mind when beginning?
Brendan Schaub
“If I had to give one piece of advice to new podcasters out there it would be to stick with it. Podcasting is a long game and it takes time to build an audience. If you are just starting out and don’t have a lot of listeners use this time wisely! Try to work on something new each podcast to get better so when you are finally hitting big numbers you’re a pro. These early episodes are all about finding your voice as a podcaster.”

Some of your more recent ventures have been in the fashion/retail/lifestyle space. This includes your clothing line, Thiccc Boy, as well as the ever-palatable and award-winning Tiger Thiccc Whiskey. How did you arrive or make your foray into these spaces?
Brendan Schaub
“I’m a BIG fashion guy. I love shoes and I love putting together outfits to wear on my shows. What you see me wearing on your screen is exactly what you’ll see me wearing grabbing a coffee at Starbucks. I work with my merch label for Thiccc Boy very closely so everything we put out represents fashion I like and quality that I would wear. I think I have a unique style and I wanted that to come across when I was creating the label for my whiskey, Tiger Thiccc. I wanted that label to really exemplify what my style is about, and I was hands on during the entire design process. The label did end up winning an award so I guess I do have good style despite what some of my co-hosts may say…”
Conclusion
At the end of the day, we feel Brendan’s response come back to four key themes or ideas:
- be long term mission-oriented and goal-driven
- be authentic
- be good to those around you by creating an inviting and safe environment
- be creative
- always have a can of Rogue pouches nearby
Whether it’s his 2022 comedy special “The Gringo Papi”, his premium line of Tiger Thiccc Whiskey, or his regular guest appearances on America’s most popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Schaub is notorious for sticking to these values and letting them shine through in all the right ways.
